Welcome to the Glenmore Swim Team!
Cheers to an exciting season in 2025!
The 2025 Tornadoes will be led by Head Coach Luke Noble and Associate Head Coach David McCauley. This will be Luke’s 7th season as Head Coach and he is excited to welcome David into more of a leadership role for his 3rd season with the Team. Luke is a UVA graduate and taught in Albemarle County Public Schools for 9 years before joining the Club as our Sport Program Manager. Luke is a former Track/XC athlete and City Swordfish swimmer, as well as having 14+ years of coaching experience. Luke is an all-around awesome role-model, leader, coach and Dad! David is a collegiate swimmer at Ursinus College where he is studying education and planning to become a teacher!
Swim Team Registration
Registration opens Friday, January 23rd and is currently limited to families who are Club members and grandchildren of Club members in good standing.
The registration fee for 2025 is $255 from 1/22–4/1, and $275 from 4/2–6/1. The registration fee is the same for all swimmers. This fee covers our team’s expenses--coaches’ salaries and taxes, certifications and background checks, swim team operations, team trophies, as well as other miscellaneous expenses. You will be directly billed by the club. (This fee does not include a team suit, which is encouraged, but not required).
Swim Team Requirements
There is a 5-year-old minimum age limit (must be 5 by June 1st) to be a registered swimmer in the Jefferson Swim League (JSL). In the interest of safety, a child must be able to swim the freestyle unassisted for 25 meters before entering a League meet.
As experienced swim parents know, summer swimming is a participation sport. Each family with a swimmer in a meet will need to have at least one volunteer for that meet. A few of the positions require training--most don’t. But all the volunteers are critical to a successful (and quick) meet. Check the JSL site here for additional volunteer descriptions.
To participate on the team, swimmers must swim in at least 3 meets during the season (there are 6 dual meets and champs). ALL swimmers who swim in at least 2 dual meets are eligible and expected to swim at the Championship meet, which determines the next season’s standings/tiers.
Suits & Gear
Tornado branded gear will be available from Rivanna Gear and Apparel. And if your child needs swimsuit sizing please call Susan Turner (Rivanna Gear Owner and Glenmore resident) for help at 434-996-5773. Thanks Susan!

The Glenmore Swim Team Mission
Summer is just around the corner and planning is in full swim for the 2025 Glenmore Tornadoes swim season. The swim team is an excellent opportunity for your child(ren) to learn how to swim all four strokes, improve their swimming skills and /or challenge themselves to improve. Our outstanding coaches have strong swimming backgrounds, are dedicated to the Glenmore swim program, and share a passion and enthusiasm for the sport.
The primary mission of the Glenmore Tornadoes is to provide the children/grandchildren of members at The Club at Glenmore a competitive summer swimming opportunity. Children 5-18 years old will be encouraged to challenge their personal fitness level in a spirited, team oriented environment. The team is supported by a parent committee, parent volunteers, and a coaching staff that model good sportsmanship and a cooperative spirit with the end goal being youth fitness, summer fun and community fellowship. The safety of our swimmers, coaches and families is our number one priority this summer. We are working closely with the Jefferson Swim League to ensure all necessary safety measures are being met. Go Tornadoes!!!
Please contact Coach Noble at luke@theclubatglenmore.com or glenmoreswimming@gmail.com for the parents committee.
